Friday October 2nd
Rachel made us shirts with his Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumor ribbon. It is zebra stripes because it is in the "rare disease" category.❤️
I said I would update today! It is still today!
We had to be in Burlington at 8am. We were a few minutes late...but we were leaving the hospital by 9!
His oncologist said the pathology report was excellent. No findings of cancer in other areas.(they checked 32 lymph nodes!)
The tumor was early stage and well contained.
They originally said 3 months for PET scan, but now it is 6 months. He will then continue to be monitored and have MRCP scans for a while. That is a special MRI dedicated to looking at pancrease, bile ducts, and gall bladder (to put it in the simplest terms, I have more reading to do). He will continue to be followed by a doctor from the pancreatic clinic.
The lack of appetite, tired, etc. can be all part of post "big surgery," as the doctor said. "Outside looks little, but inside is BIG!" (Said in your strongest Colombian accent😘)
Our sad news today is that the oncologist is leaving UVM. 😥
But as I said, Kevin was going to be followed by the pancreatic clinic doctor anyway.
He is a terrific doctor, but said he will be a phone call away of needed!
Sleeping is not going well. But he has worked night shifts for so long...he can't sleep at night and gets his best sleep between 4am and 8am.
That and he worked until he was exhausted and then would sleep. Now he isn’t doing anything physical to make his body tired. However, lots going on inside healing!
This should all improve with time.
He will just get sleeping good at night...right about the time he goes back to work! 😆
The appetite is the same...not doing anything to work up an appetite, so isn’t hungry. Agian..will get better with time.
He is gaining. Has walked as far as the cabin!
Gets outside every day!
Pray for the patient to have patience for the healing process!
Thank each of you for your love❤️, prayers🙏🏼 ans support🙌!
